Study In Germany FAQ's

Education at state-funded institutions in Germany is usually free or highly subsidised with very nominal tuition fees. However, private institutions do charge tuition fees for bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes.

Students must appear for English Language Proficiency Tests like IELTS (minimum score required- 6.5), TOEFL (average score required- 60-80), GRE (to pursue MS in Germany with a score of around 300), GMAT (for MBA in Germany with an average scorecard of 640). To prove German language proficiency, the following test requirements may apply: DSH, TestDaF, Goethe Institute Certificates, DSD.

For Bachelor's Degrees:
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a certified 12th-grade marksheet with a minimum score of 50%.
  • Have an SAT or ACT score between 400 and 1600.
  • Achieve appropriate band scores on the English proficiency test.
  • Have documents ready like the 12th-grade certificate, transcript of grades, language proficiency proof, valid passport, and Statement of Purpose (SOP).
For Master's Degrees:
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution. (Those with a 3-year degree may need to attend a preparatory course called Studienkolleg).
  • Demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like IELTS, PTE, etc., with the minimum required score.
  • Have GRE or GMAT scores, especially for MS or MBA programs.

After completing studies in Germany, students can apply for a work visa valid for 18 months. This application should be made before the student visa expires. Required documents include proof of successfully completed studies, health insurance coverage, and evidence of sufficient financial means for living expenses. During this period, students can work full-time and search for permanent employment. Upon securing a permanent job, they must apply for a work and residence permit.
